DEER PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT FACULTY

A NOTE TO TEACHERS: Do you know your influence serves as guide lines for every student you had the honor of teaching, for rest of their lives?A Point of interest- Below are three Photos depicting the end of the 19th Century, followed by the entire 20th Century and Bingo, right on into the 21st Century. And here we are at the end of 1/10th of this Century. I can hardly wait for the 22nd.

Bill Sebright was born west of Loon Lake, WA. At the age of 1 the Sebright family moved to Clayton. Bill spent his entire educational years at Clayton followed by Deer Park, then onto WSU. He became a teacher and taught in Redwood City, CA, for 5 years. He came home to Clayton and taught there for a year. He taught at Arcadia Elementary in Deer Park, WA, for 29 years as 5-7 grade teacher. Upon retirement, Bill now substitutes and belongs to the Retired Arcadia Teachers club, RATS for short. Need we mention he is also President of CDPHS.

This is a 'Short Story' featuring substitute teacher Bill Sebright and a student named Lincoln. Following one of CDPHS Saturday morning meetings at the Clayton Drive In a family, all dressed in their finest attire came in, placed their order and one of the boys spotted his former teacher and proudly waved with a gleam in his eye and said in a distinct voice, “HI, MR.SEBRIGHT.” Bill with a gleam or was it a tear returned the greeting. The young man was dressed in a suit and tie. He and his family were undoubtedly going to an elaborate function. This little short story demonstrates the effect school teachers have on students that lasts a lifetime. Why is this? It’s a mystery but a fact.

Picture
One Hundred short years ago Mrs. Roy Grove had a few less students than Mrs. Bantis has on her teaching staff. This picture was taken just about the end of the 19th century. This was Deer Park, WA, very first school house and very first class. Enjoy because this is a history lesson at its finest. Sam Perrins wasn't even this good.

Once upon a time in the Old West when the new railroad came through, Clayton started as Allens Siding. Soon there were a couple churches, a depot, Post Office, Mercantile and a tiny one room clapboard school house. Soon it was replaced by a two room school house. In 1915 a brick multi room school house was erected. Soon rather than one teacher, there were many. Mrs. McDonald center, Mrs. Lenhard, Mr. Lumberg, and Mr. Clarence Nord

In the late 70s Bob Clouse visited Mr. H.S. Limbert in downtown Loon Lake. A quarter of a century later at our 50th Class reunion the word went out that Mr. Limbert then in his late 90s was alive and well. He was living on the west side of Washington State. We failed to make contact. Grave mistake. Mr. Limbert and Coach Click were both #1.
